Idaho, other states should fight painkiller abuse by not treating it as a crime, experts say | Idaho Statesman

“The first step in battling skyrocketing use of heroin and prescription opioid painkillers such as oxycodone, morphine and methadone is to remove the stigma from those who abuse the drugs, several leading health officials told a group of journalists.”

This article is very intriguing. Idaho with the Federal Govt is finally holding Doctors responsible for over prescribing. Heroin Addiction usually starts with a prescription pill addiction.

It also speaks about the vast progress the state of Vermont has had with battling not just Stigma, but addiction in general. Rehabs instead of jails are fiscally responsible. The proof is in the pudding or should I say ice cream in Vermont.
