I read a story online yesterday on the local news stations web site. It was about a Manchester NH man in his 30’s being arrested for drug trafficking. Not only drug trafficking, but Fentanyl was what was seized at the man’s house. Something like 1.8 kilograms which is equivalent to just under 4 pounds of Fentanyl.
A simple Google search later and the resulting information is unbelievable.
1 gram of pure Fentanyl can produce 100 grams of “heroin”. Doing this math 1.8 kilos is 1800 grams of Fentanyl making 18000 grams of heroin. No wonder this guy had 200,000 in cash on him and another half a million in a safety deposit box at the bank.
This is astonishing to me. He could only be sentenced to 17 years in a federal prison because the DEA made the bust.
At approximately $100 a gram of heroin, he could have made $1,800,000 CASH off of the amount that got seized.
It seems 17 years isn’t a long enough sentence.
The max for a manslaughter charge is up to 30 years in prison.
I find it hard to believe that none of this man’s sales produced any overdoses.
The city of Manchester NH alone has had 65 confirmed heroin overdose deaths already this year.
I find it extremely difficult to believe that this man’s hands are clean from any of that blood.
What about you? 17 years a fair sentence?
